KE'E ROOTS (2014)
TAJINASTE ROJO (2011)
Echium wildpretii, Las Cañadas caldera, Tenerife, Canary Islands. Unlike most examples within the caldera this one isn't completely upright. Perhaps it has a particular interest in my fellow geologist, or even the volcano beyond! More likely it's just my deliberate choice of perspective and sense of humour. The Spanish name for this plant is tajinaste rojo.
YELLOW WATER VANTAGE (2008)
Paperbark tree (Melaleuca spp.). Yellow Water Wetlands, Kakadu National Park, Northern Territory, Australia. Note the white-bellied sea-eagle (Haliaeetus leucogaster) perched on the highest branch.
